Players of Hearts of Oak happy to be back

Accra Hearts of Oak Communication Director, Opare Addo has given reasons why the club resumed training without testing their players for Covid-19.

This comes after President Akufo-Addo lifted the ban on contact sports to allow for the kickoff of the Ghana Premier League and other competitions.

Clubs were advised to test their players before they commence pre-season training.

However, Hearts of Oak and other clubs have disregarded the protocol and instead began training without testing their players.

Speaking on why the club failed to test their players before the commencement of training, the Communication Director insisted the club was not obliged to test players before starting training.

Addo added it’ll not be of use should they test the players to come for training and go back to their various homes at the end of each session.

“We have not done any testing but we will do it,” – Opare Addo told Atinka FM

“Nobody told us to do testing before resuming training, nobody said that so no one should think that we’ve done something wrong, we’ve not.”

“And we are not waiting for the government before we will conduct our testing, we have our own schedule”

“If you test your players to resume training from home, what will be the sense of doing that test, whiles you are even exposing that person to the rest of the world.”

“Immediately we do the test we will make sure that everybody is not going anywhere and it’s not long from now that we will do it.” – He added.
