Seemingly, Blaugrana want to replace Sergio Busquets already this summer.

According to Ghana Soccer Net, Barcelona are interested in Atletico Madrid‘s defensive midfielder Thomas Partey. The Catalans are ready to trigger the player’s €50m release clause, the same source reports.

Apparently, the club are looking for a Busquets successor and Quique Setien believes the 27-year-old is the perfect candidate. One of Thomas’ most-valued attributes is said to be his experience of playing in La Liga.

Besides Blaugrana, Arsenal are also keeping eyes on the midfielder but are yet to make an official approach.

The Rojiblancos have reportedly offered the Ghanian a new deal that would end in 2025, with his release clause risen to €100m. As for now, Partey is not willing to accept the terms. His current deal runs out in 2023.

It’s hard to say whether the rumour coming from Ghana Soccer Net has something behind it. For now, we encourage you to take the report with a pinch of salt. Let’s see if any other source will run a similar story.

So far this season, Partey has scored three goals and registered one assist in 35 appearances for Los Colchoneros. Transfermarkt value the Ghana international at €40m.
