Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey has expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing in next season’s UEFA Champions League for new club Ludogorets Razgrad.

The Black Stars player has signed for the Bulgarian club for two years on loan from Schalke, and he will wear the number 37 jersey for the 2020-21 campaign.

One of the major perks of the move is that Tekpetey will have the opportunity to play in the Champions League, with Ludogorets set to begin in the first qualifying round later this month.

“Everything I’ve heard about Ludogorets so far made me choose this club,” Tekpetey is quoted by his new club’s official website.

“They play good football and they are always part of the Champions League and Europa League too. This is important for every player who wants to develop his career.

“It [Bulgarian league] is different compared to the Bundesliga but my first impression is that training is on a high level here. The coach wants us to create more attacks.

“I was happy to see the players so motivated to play for the win. I am also glad to be part of a club with such ambition. I need to work hard and that is the most important thing. This way, I will reach my goals.”

Ludogorets have several African players on their roster, with Tekpetey joining Madagascar’s Anicet Abel, Congolese Mavis Tchibota, Bissau Guinean Jorginho, DR Congo defender Jordan Ikoko and Senegalese Stephane Badji.
