After 8 years of absence from the premier league, Real Tamale United are back to the top flight of Ghana football after beating Unity FC 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. The goals were scored by striker Yakubu Labando.

RTU qualification was confirmed by Berekum Arsenal after they held rivals Bofoakwa Tano FC to a 0-0 draw.

Both RTU and Bofokwa Tano have 65 points each with RTU qualifying on both goals and head to head advantage.

RTU’s demotion in 2013 was a mixture of financial crisis and managerial inefficiencies which affected results.

Before the final day of that season, the Pride of the North had failed to record a win in 29 games.

They had conceded as many as 71 goals and scored just 19 times – an average of 0.65 per game.
