Chelsea players face pay-cuts of up to 50 PER CENT if they miss European qualification this season.

It’s emerged this week that players signed this past year under the new ownership of Todd Boehly and ClearLake Capital have wage reduction clauses in their deals should they miss Champions League qualification.

And while it’s claimed the cut will be around 30 per cent, the Daily Mail says the reduction could reach 50 PER CENT.

Chelsea have signed 12 players since Boehly’s takeover. Another seven have penned new contracts during the same time. It is unknown whether the wage scheme will be enforced immediately or if players will be given a grace period.

Those with contracts untouched from the Roman Abramovich era will see their wages maintained.
