Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United midfielder, David Abagna is cursing his stars after tasting defeat on his international debut for the Black Stars in a warm-up game against African Champions Algeria.

The friendly was to test the Star’s readiness ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon this weekend but the RTU captain is ruing the loss on his first international appearance.

Describing the defeat as “painful”, the former Wa All Stars player believes the four-time African Champions put up a fight and played well and the game could have gone either way. Though David accepts the defeat but insist he should have made his debut to the national team a memorable one.

“I did not want to taste defeat in my debut game for my country [Ghana] but that is football. It is very painful but we have to bounce back when the tournament starts this weekend.

Abagna will be hoping to make an impact in the tournament in Cameroon after a fine start to his RTU career in the ongoing Ghana Premier League which has seen him scored 8 goals in 9 matches before his call up.
