The Division one league match between Steadfast FC and Unity FC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale ended goaless on Saturday.
The center referee couldn’t turn up for the match due to alleged reported ill health which forced the fourth to move into the center to officiate.
- In an official match, the fourth referee is usually appointed because he/she has the experience to take over if the Referee is unable to continue and the fourth official is designated to be a substitute to the referee.
The Match Commissioner, Mr. Isaaka Abdulai Anass turned himself into the fourth referee and also performed his MC duties.
This singular extra role by the MC made the fans to develop some love for him. He made three substitutions and in each case the fans always shouted his name.
The referees appointment committee is yet to make a comment on it.
