The Division One League got off to a blistering start on Friday as Dreams Tamale marked their debut season in the second tier of Ghana Football with an emotional 2-0 victory over Wa Suntaa on Saturday.
Alhassan Huzeifa and Osman Zakaria scored in the first half to spark wild celebration by the home fans at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The win was well deserved as Dreams Tamale, reveling in their chances to take already experienced Suntaa side, took the game to the Upper West visitors who looked disjointed and toothless in the absence of some key players.
The home side made the cut after navigating through a difficult path in the Northern Regional Division Two League and were recently rewarded for their promotion when the RFA organised a coronation game to crown them champions a week to the start of the new season.
Wa Suntaa, with a new look struggling to gel, offered little and Dreams Tamale lifted the tempo of the game in the second half but couldn’t convert chance created.
Suntaa rallied briefly in the last minutes of the second half but failed to find a consolation as the home side made a blistering start to a new era in the club’s objective of producing talents for the market.
