Former Northern Regional Minister Hon. Salifu Saeed has cut sod for the construction of the Bimbila Sports Complex, after an appeal from Nantambu Nationals and other Sports Associations in the Municipality.

The construction of the facility which will serve the purpose of not only football but other sporting events will commence this year as part of plans to revamp sporting activities in the area.

The Nanun area for some years but has produced legends in sports including Amusah Gbadamoshi, Nasamu Yakubu and his brothers Nassam Mohammed and Nassam Baba, and other prominent figures in sports. However lack of infrastructure has affected the development of talents, hence the need to provide one.

Cutting the Sod on behalf of the Board Member of the Boi Power Project, the Municipal Coordinator for Savelugu, Chief Wembei Zakaria said the project is to enhance Sports in Nanung and it’s environment.

“We all know that pitches in Bimbila has now either be consumed by developmental projects or taken by their owners and for a team like Nanumba Nationals, they need their own pitch hence the construction of this Sports Complex”.

The Municipal P. E Cordinator, Nassam Mohammed and other Sports personalities in the football Fratanity saw the need to look for a superate land and after sorting the permission of the traditional Authorities, we’re given 100 Hector of land.

An appeal was made to the immediate past Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Saeed who saw the need to support the project. However Chief Wumbei Zakaria appealed to other well Meaning Nanumbas and Ghanaians to come and support the construction of the Bimbilla Town Park.

Earlier a donation of 200 cement bags was made on behalf of Hon Salifu Saeed at the Bimbilla Senior High School as support for the ongoing Wall Fencing Project undertaken by the School Authority.
