GFA elections: Osei Palmer rumoured to be heading for Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS)

Normalization Committee President, Dr. Kofi Amoah has justified the decision to disqualify Wilfred Osei Palmer from the GFA presidential race.

In a leaked audio making rounds on social media, Kofi Amoah was telling someone in a conversation that Palmer’s failure to honour an agreement he had with the FA over the transfer of Joseph Paintsil gave them (Vetting Committee) enough grounds to throw him out of the race.

According to Kofi Amoah, prior to selling the player, Palmer entered into an agreement with GFA which required of him to pay ten percent of the transfer amount to the association.

However, after securing the 3million dollar deal, the Tema Youth chief who signed the undertaking in his name and not that of his club decided against making the mandatory payment.

In the wisdom of Kofi Amoah, a person of such character lacks the integrity to lead Ghana football.

“This guy (Palmer) you signed an agreement on your club letterhead that you are about to sell a player and whatever you get, you will give ten percent to the FA which is in the regulations. You sold the guy for three million and we are asking for the ten percent.

“So where is the integrity of entering into an agreement and then not paying. And you want to become the president of the FA. So I called him personally because it was at the time we were looking for money to do things so I told him we will take action”, Kofi Amoah is heard saying in the leaked audio.

And it appears the ‘action’ Kofi Amoah spoke about is the disqualification of the former Exco member from the contest.

Meanwhile, Palmer and his camp are rumoured to be heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) after the NC threw out his appeal, citing late submission as the bases for their decision. This claim has been refuted by Palmer who announced in a statement that he filed his appeal before the deadline.
