Real Tamale United climbed into second place of the Division One League Zone 1 League table at least for the next 12 hours after a convincing 3-0 win over local rivals Gbewaa FC.

Goals from Sadat Mohammed, Alhassan Fauzan and man of the match Baba Kushibo saw them tighten their grip on second spot.

It was a thoroughly-deserved victory for assistant coach Kojo Whyte’s side, who made it three successive home victories with three goal margins.

Any confidence Gbewaa had gained from their encounter with Tamale City last week, was dented after thirty four minutes.

Baba Kushibo’s powerful free kick from the edge of the area was handled by the human wall and Refereee Azantilor pointed to the spot with Sadat Mohammed making no mistake to gleefully sloght home even after a retake to take his tally to four goals.

RTU should have eased further but the side post and goalkeeper Ibrahim Mugeed came to Gbewaa’s rescue at some point in the first half. Gbewaa FC’s hope of staging a come comeback was further worsen when Alhassan Fauzan increased the tally after a fine move by RTU in the 53rd minute.

Baba Kushibo then made sure of the points in the 87th minute when he drove home inside the 18 of Gbewaa FC to condemned the Lions to another defeat at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. Gbewaa is yet to pick a point against any of the Tamale Based clubs while Real Tamale United recorded their third straight home wins with a margin of three goals.

A 3-0 victory over Berekum Arsenal was followed by the same score line this time against B. A United before Saturday’s impressive display.
