Real Tamale United will not be required to compete in the opening weekend of the 2020-21 Division One League campaign following Techiman City’s disqualification from the competition this season.

Ghana’s second tie League season is set to begin on November 13 and with teams building up for the opening games, the Pride of the North will likely play their opening game the following week, the report said.

RTU ended the 2019-20 season in 13th place, but are building a serious squad for the upcoming season with the aim of breaking the seven-year wilderness.

The Ghana FA released fixtures for the upcoming season on Tuesday evening for Zone 1 with the remaining two zones in waiting.

Each matchday will have a club on standby due to the suspension of Techiman City FC from the Division One League following their decision to place a court injunction on the 26th Ordinary Congress of the Ghana FA.

As a result Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s side will trek to Kintampo in week two for their first game of the season.

However, the League will spark off with some juicy local derbies starting from week four where RTU will face Tamale City in a repeat of the last division one game the two sides played before the league was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Real Tamale United will then wait until the 13th and 14tg weeks before engaging Steadfast and Gbewaa FC respectively.

RTU will wrap the first round with a home tie against Unity FC.
