Ghana DOL week 1 Wrap-up: Gargo Mohammed suffers defeat in first game at his new club

Former Black Stars midfielder, Gargo Mohammed began life with Steadfast with defeat in his first game in charge of the club.

Gargo agreed to join Steadfast before the start of the season but lost away to Mighty Royals in added time courtesy by Oduro Gideon. However he says he is ready to make an impression in the second tier of Ghana Football.

The new big name manager at Young Apostles, Ernest Akotuah started off with win in the first week of the 2020-21 National Division League. The new coach earned his first win at home with a 3–1 victory over Nkoranza Warriors.

Young Apostles began their Division One League campaign on Saturday with an emphatic 3-1 win at Nkoranza Warriors. Hakeem Mohammed, Samuel Norgbey and Raymond Anokye Asante all had their names on the scoresheet with Ebenezer Kwaku Seyyah getting a consolation in the dying minutes of the game.

Meanwhile, B.A United stumbled out of the gate against Berekum Arsenal at the Golden City Park. After their storybook season in which they were tipped to win the Zone 1 before the Coronavirus pandemic rocked the world, B.A hoped to continue their success in the current season and started the new campaign with a defeat after Joseph Ansah scored the only goal in the match. Arsenal showed a lot of heart and passion as they fought B.A United tooth and nail for the three points.

Wa Suntaa and Gbewaa FC shared the points in their first match of the season. The home side started off strong and had many chances but only scoring one of them by way of an Issahaku Hakeem strike in the 54th minute. Gbewaa FC fought back hard to earn an equalizer to save the game in the 3rd minute of added time courtesy of an Umar Alhassan strike.

Nsoatreman FC had a perfect start to their season with a 0-1 away victory over Bofoakwa Tano, while Unity FC earned a draw at Paga Crocodile.

Fans in Tamale will have a feel of the Division One League on Tuesday after the FA postponed Tamale City’s game with Kintampo FC, while date for Real Tamale United vs Techiman City game is yet to be confirmed.
