The Division One League continues to deliver the drama it promises week-in week-out and there’s plenty more in store this weekend.

Plenty of attention on how fast starters Berekum Arsenal and Wa Suntaa fare once more, while eyes will also be on a Gbewaa FC side suffering with defeats, and a sudden resurgent of Steadfast FC.

Things get underway on Saturday afternoon with Tamale City hosting Paga Crocodile Stars at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium. Hamza Mohammed’s side started the campaign on a poor note dropping points against Nkoranza Warriors, Kintampo FC and Nsoatreman FC. But despite beating Young Apostles in week two, their recent Derby win over RTU is expected to bring some confidence to the team. Hamza Mohammed would be smart to stick with the same tactical setup –which contributed to that win.

It is difficult to see where Yendi Gbewaa FC’s first win of the season will come from. The Lions picked up their first point in week one against Wa Suntaa at the Malik Jabir Park and another stalemate against Mighty Royals in Tamale.

Their opponents for this week, Steadfast, meanwhile, have seen an impressive back-to-back wins over B.A. United and Nsoatreman FC after drop-off in results at the start of the season.

Unbeaten RTU lost their 100% record with defeat against Tamale City in the Tamale derby. But spirits should still be high in camp given that they have an outstanding game against Techiman City on Wednesday.

Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has confirmed Labandow Yakubu is expected back to the team after missing the last three games as a result of a knock suffered during the opening game.

With a perfect away record so far with two wins in the Brong and Ahafo Regions, Real Tamale United would be counting on their recent resurgent away from home as they travel to Nsoatreman FC on Sunday.

Berekum Arsenal and Wa Suntaa are the only team in Zone one with their unbeaten record still intact following their unexpectedly excellent start to the season – that included B. Arsenal 1-0 win of Techiman City and Suntaa’s goalless draw at home to Nkoranza Warriors respectively.

Wa Suntaa SC have managed to prevent defeat in the first five games but will have their strength tested by Young Apostles who kicked off with two wins but have failed to win in their last three.

Leaders Berekum Arsenal however travel to Kintampo FC on Sunday as the host search for their first win of the season.

In other games, Nkoranza Warriors entertain Mighty Royals while Unity FC host B.A. United.

In a season full of unpredictability and shocks, one thing remains true, that teams will continue to provide entertainment for the fans.
