Ahead of another local derby this Saturday, assistant coach, Kwajo Whyte says his RTU squad are “on fire” in training as they look to get back to winning ways against Yendi Gbewaa FC on this week.

The former Ghana Premier League side’s three-game winning streak was ended by Steadfast in Sunday’s derby at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Preparing the team in the absence of head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko, who is out of the Country, Kwajo Whyte was asked on the team’s final training about the mood in the camp since the weekend, the former Guan United technical man said his players were determined to return to winning ways.

“A mix of disappointment and sadness but, at the same time, after out defeat but today is a bit better and they have demonstrated they have forgotten about last week and looking to winning this game on Saturday” he said.

RTU , seeking to return to the Ghana Premier League after eight years in the wilderness this seasons, are 3 points adrift of leaders Berekum Arsenal with 2 games to end the first round but Kwajo Whyte said there was still work to do.

“We have 2 games left for the first round and we have to win both to cushion us into the second round. We’re going to try to win the first one on Saturday and then travel to Kenyansi next week.”

A win for The Pride of the North would put them back on the Zone 1 table for at least 24 hours.
