A big week of football approaches as the Division One League (DOL) enters the Tenth week with some feisty and frosty encounters across Zone 1.

Real Tamale United and Berekum Arsenal face off on Thursday as the Zone’s top two teams renew their revalry for promotion into the Premier.

The penultimate week offers up another huge game as leaders Bofoakwa Tano face Tamale City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Tamale City kick start match-day ten on Wednesday as they set sights on recording their sixth victory in this year’s campaign against high flying Bofoakwa Tano at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium with their sight set on to top the table.

The Citizens recorded a draw against Berekum Arsenal last week but a win over leaders Bofoakwa would put Hamza Mohammed’s side in the lead at least for 24 hours.

Favourites as many have described them, the top four teams to win this Zone, have yet been knocked out of is this campaign.

The bookies have taken off former Premier League side, B. A United from the race to finish in the top two and damned Berekum Arsenal with the faint praise of favourites. In the last two seasons Tamale City’s consistency would have been more notable, but the exhilarating form of their ‘rivals, RTU’ has made it look ordinary by comparison.

RTU are fouth on the tabke after dropping points in controversial circumstances last week in Wamanafo. On Thursday they face second-placed Berekum Arsenal at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, looking to cement their position as favourites to top the Zone at the end of the season.

The additions of Adam Sachibu, Ibrahim Gadafi, Mohammed Hafiz and Donald Frimpong would boost their confidence as they search for their third home win.

Young Apostles have moved out of the race at least for now after a bright start to the season but would like to return to winning ways against B. A United at at the Coronation Park.

On the hand, resurgent Steadfast who displayed a remarkable performance against Kintampo Fc last week would renew their relationship against Nkoranza Warriors who lost to The Apostles of Ghana Football, B. A United last Thursday at the Coronation Park.

The bottom half of the table would also witness some thrilling matches with Nsoatreman FC seeking to record another win against Wa Suntaa , while Mighty Royals trek to the Crocodile Land to face Paga Crocodile Stars.

The quality might be lacking and the teams might be engulfed in the relegation fracas but when Kintampo Fc and Yendi Gbewaa FC take on each other on Wednesday , the clash promises to make for an intoxicating brew.

With time running out and running out fast for these two sides, the midweek encounter comes bearing with it the identity of a must win one for either team. The ramifications couldn’t get any larger with the loser of this showdown all but nailing down its plunge into Division Two.

And it’s the hosts who carry an outright edge prior to this match. Kintampo Fc recorded their first win two weeks ago and Gbewaa FC followed that with their own first victory last week.
