Presidential advisor on health, Dr. Nsiah Asare has hinted that government of Ghana will absorb the cost of players ahead of the resumption of football.

President Akufo Addo in his 17th address of the nation on Sunday gave clearance for the Ghana Premier League and Division One League to resume on October 30.

With players and technical set to be tested for the 2020/21 season start, Dr. Asare says government will absorb the cost.

“The government of Ghana will absorb the cost of the COVID-19 for all the clubs just as it was done for the national teams that begun camping,” Nsiah Asare told Kumasi FM.

“They are many and the cost is huge but the government is committed to fighting this pandemic.

“They will be tested right after they begin camping and another will be done when the league commences and in the middle of the league. Ours cannot be done regularly as it’s been done elsewhere,” he added.

The President, also indicated that 25% of spectators should be allowed into the various stadia, with the mandatory wearing of face masks during match days.

The 2019/20 Ghana football season was truncated in June following teh outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic in March.

However, the 2020/21 season will be played in two zones, i.e, the Northern and Southern Zone.
