Berekum Arsenal left it late to secure a point against Tamale Steadfast at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium yesterday. Homesters Steadfast began the game dominating possession especially in the middle where the experienced duo of Imoro Iddrisu and Haruna Ganiyu operated.

Arsenal took time to settle before stinging their opponents on the flanks with incursions. On few occasions, Ansu Kofi Patrick and Kwame Francis failed to punish them for their lapses.

Steadfast’s livewire Issahaku Abdul-Fatawu proved a thorn in Arsenal’s flesh by tormenting their defence and fancying some shots from distance. He finally got his reward by winning a penalty and sending goalkeeper Adu Emmanuel the wrong way.

Below is an interview with the coach of Berekum Arsenal:

The second half saw a spirited Arsenal mount a strong assault to equalize. The home side was forced to make mistakes, commiting fouls in their vital area. One of such instances saw midfielder Imoro Iddrisu sent off for dissent after he had been booked in the first half.

This, in addition to the loss to injury of Abdul-Fatawu gave Arsenal an edge. They duely took advantage when substitute Pandrous Kusi lost his marker and fired into the net, deep into injury time. It ended one apiece much to the chagrin of the home fans.
