The race to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League could not be closer after Eleven Wonders’ 2-0 victory at home to Kasena-Nakana United, coupled with Debibi United 2-2 draw with Wa Yassin and Steadfast FC’s narrow win over Kunbung Binbiem ensured a four team race for promotion into the Ghana Premier League.

Only one of the four will definitely go up resorting to the lottery of the playoffs with leaders of Zone 1B, yet two points and just goals separate them, with Wonders pushing to make quick return after been relegated last season.

The Techiman based side had to overcome a battling performance from Kasena-Nakana United, and a bizarre beachball protest from the home supporters, to claim victory at the Ohene Ameyaw Park on Sunday and stay at the top on 25 points.

Wa Suntaa remained second, two points adrift of the Leaders after failing to break Maana Sc’s resistance at the Malik Jabril Park in Wa. The local derby however ended in a pulsating 1-1 draw.

Debibi United reinforced their reputation as the division’s most unpredictable team with a 2-2 home draw against Wa Yassin. Enos Adepa’s side conceded a later equalizer to draw to secure a point.

Steadfast FC, 1-0 winners over Kunbung Binbiem FC, remain with a theoretical chance of pipping Debibi United and travel to Wa Yassin in midweek. The Tamale based team had a good state to the season but now trail Eleven Wonders by four points.

All eight teams in Zone 1A will go into action again in midweek as Steadfast FC visit Wa Yassin in Techiman, WA Suntaa welcomes Eleven Wonders in the top of the table clash while Kunbung Binbiem and Kasena-Nakana United entertains Debibi United and Maana SC respectively.
