FC Savannah hope to start the season on a fine form as they travel to face Upland Ladies far away in Wa on Saturday in the preliminary stage of the Women’s FA Cup .

After months of preparations, the team finally would kick start the season with the Women’s FA Cup as their first official competition in two seasons.

Football within the country has faced a lot of challenges which caused a halt in football activities for almost three years, thanks to the Anas expose on referees and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The spirit is high and strong in camp as the two-time regional champions prepares for the league season. The team has engaged in series of low and high profile matches in the past months, playing premier league sides in the region as well. The Team played a total of ten matches (W6 D2 L2).

Key players including Abdulai Karima and Akiriba Linda are expected to join the squad after being away for a while due to injuries.

Coach Tamin Adam has been handed a major injury boost ahead of the visit to Wa. The likelihood of the former Pearlpia Ladies boss having a full-strength squad at his disposal is high and assistant coach, Abubakar Mubash, believes the conditioning of the players has been perfect and the return of players from the injury room gives them more boost and confidence.

The team will be hoping to make it to the next stage of the competition, as well as prepare for their regional league next month.
