Frank Lampard has provided an update on Chelsea’s activity in the winter transfer window at the press conference ahead of the Leicester clash.
“The window is 95% shut for us,” the boss said, as quoted by Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella. “The answer is probably no for any players you would ask about.
“Giroud? He has been incredible as a player and a man during this time. Will he leave? No. He trained today. No ins and no outs.”
The Englishman has also confirmed that Napoli striker Dries Mertens will not join the Blues.
Chelsea still have until at 11pm on Friday to sign or sell a player this January. However, Lampard’s ’95 per cent’ would most likely mean a couple of loan-out deals and Tariq Lamptey‘s exit to Brighton.
