GOC president and Tokyo 2020 chef de mission Mike Aggrey call on Korean ambassador

GOC President Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah and the Chef de Mission for Tokyo 2020, Mr. Mike Aggrey have paid a courtesy call on the Korean ambassador Mr. Kim Sungsoo at the Korean Embassy in Ghana to thank the Korean government for their immense support towards Ghana sports.

H.E. Mr. Kim Sungsoo promised to support Ghanaian sportsmen and women not only in taekwondo and martial arts, but other disciplines like winter sports as well as para sports.

He urged Ghanaians to take sports very serious because the benefits are huge.

Ben Nunoo Mensah said it is sad that Ghana’s Black Meteors and the Black Queens could not qualify, but still has hope in the athletes, boxers, weight lifters judokas and taekwondo players to qualify and represent Ghana in August next year in Japan.

He noted that the physically challenged athletes too can shine at the Paralympic Games, so they should also be supported and encouraged.

Mr. Michael Aggrey who is also president of Ghana Golf Association appealed to corporate Ghana to aid Team Ghana to be represented at the 2020 Olympic Games as it is good to be there, better to win medals, and best to grab the ultimate gold.

He expressed that in sports anything can happen if athletes and coaches are well motivated and inspired.
