In a letter sighted by Sports24online.com signed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt E.S. Okraku on the 29th of June 2020 addressed to Club Owners, Regional Football Associations (RFAs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) has confirmed that, the FIFA Council has unanimously approved the COVID-19 Emergency Fund which was designed by the FIFA administration in close cooperation with representatives of Member Association and the Confederations.
Women’s Football in Ghana has suffered greatly during this COVID-19 era and have made various appeals for some relief support and it came as good news when the GFA President explained in the letter that the FIFA Council approved a universal solidarity grant of USD 1 million to be made available to all member associations, and an additional grant of USD 500,000 to be allocated specifically to women’s football.
In the case of Ghana, the GFA General Secretary and his team represented the Association to work closely with the FIFA Team by providing all the needed information (financial and non-financial) which were required of the GFA to the world governing body.
