The Ghana Football Association will take over payment of Officiating fees of Division One Clubs starting from the upcoming season.

This landmark decision was announced during a meeting between the GFA Executive Council and the lower divisions clubs in Accra on Wednesday.

Previously, referees were paid by the home team which created an “ethical challenge” and suspicion of foul play.

The Ghana FA has thus effectively scrapped the system of Division One Clubs absorbing officiating fees of division one matches.

This latest move signifies the fulfillment of a key campaign promise by new GFA president Kurt E.S Okraku.

The decision is expected to massively relieve the financial burdens of division one clubs across the country.
