Kumasi Asante Kotoko made light work of Dreams FC on Saturday after coming from behind to win 3-1 at the Accra stadium. After a barren first half, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku opened the scoring for Still Believe lads but ended up losing the game after conceding the last 10 minutes of the game to Asante Kotoko.

Madusiru Salifu drew Asante Kotoko level after latching on a pass from Isaac Oppong in the 83rd minute. Substitute Isaac Oppong who made the first, scored the second with an individual effort after rounding up the Dreams FC defence before slotting the ball into the roof of the net for the second goal.

 

With a few minutes of play remaining, Richmond Lamptey scored the third goal for Asante Kotoko after his thunderous effort beat Dreams FC goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi. The former Inter Allies man who is noted for long range drives hit the ball from 25 yards as it zoomed into the net for the third goal.

In Accra – Champions Hearts of Oak made a frustrating start to their title defence as they were held by Legon Cities on Sunday. The Phobians dominated play but failed to score as they settled for a barren game against the citizens.

Medeama SC suffered a humiliating defeat on Sunday in their opening match of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League on Sunday. The mauve and yellows were beaten 4-0 by Bechem United at the Fosu Gyeabuor Park. Emmanuel Avornyo scored in the 14th minute to give the Hunters the lead. Francis Twene added the second and provided the 3rd as Avornyo scored his second goal of the day. Returnee Augustine Okrah increased the tally for Bechem United.

In Tamale, David Abagna scored a late penalty which gave Real Tamle United a point against Great Olympics at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday evening. Midfielder Raymond Oko Grippman gave Olympics the lead with a header in the first half.

Karela United fought back to earn a 1-1 draw with Aduana Stars at the CAM Park on Sunday. Emmanuel Gyamfi scored on his debut for Aduana Stars but Abdul Aziz Dogo finished off a move to ensure that the two teams share the spoils in Nzema.

King Faisal kicked off their new season on a good note with a 1-0 win against WAFA at the Baba Yara stadium. Zubeiru Ibrahim scored the only goal of the match to give his side the three points at stake.

Newly promoted side, Gold Stars were off to a flying start on Sunday following a 1-0 win against Berekum Chelsea at DUN’S Park. Kingsford Boafo scored the only goal of the match to give his team all the points.

Eric Esso was the hero for AshantiGold SC as he powered them to a 1-0 win against Eleven Wonders at Techiman. The combative midfielder scored from a solo effort in the 83rd minute to give the Miners all the spoils.

The season took off on Friday in Accra where Accra Lions romped to a 1-1 draw with Elmina Sharks. Rauf Salifu scored the equalizer for Accra Lions after conceding first through Michelle Sarpong.
