Ishmael Nketia says he wants ‘more goals’ in the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League campaign, with the Real Tamale United star insisting he can still improve despite opening his account with a goal and Man-of-the-Match award in his first start of the new season.
The former Mighty Royals striker has outlined his personal targets for the season as he strives to get better and better.
Ishmael inspired Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s side to a second consecutive home win on Sunday as his opener and Man-of-the-Match performance lifted them to 8th on the league table after week 5.
Nketia sustained an ankle injury in the DOL Super Cup pre-season competition and only made a return as a second half substitute in last week’s defeat to Aduana. However, the striker has quickly established himself as a cult hero at United and is looking for more goals.
With the team pulling the strings with great performances on the pitch, Coach Tanko is being tipped to bring a frustrating trophy drought to an end in the coming months, but Ismeal also has some personal targets on his mind heading into the new year.
“I think, it’s easy when you play in a team like RTU because there are so many good players around you,” he told the media.
“They help you to be better and I am here to help them be better. So I think, of course, numbers are really good but it is now that I need to start to improve and score more goals for the club.
The Pride of the North will travel to Berekum Chelsea this weekend in search of their first away win the Ghana Premier League after two defeats on the travels.
