Kylian Mbappe‘s decision to stick with PSG cost a cocky adidas a fortune.

Mbappe was expected to sign for Real Madrid as his contract ran down at PSG, but the striker performed a shock U-turn and penned a new three-year contract with the Parisians.

The decision not only stunned the board at Real Madrid, but also their kit sponsors adidas.

Mbappe is a Nike player, but was all set to be tied to adidas thanks to Real Madrid.

And Mundo Deportivo says the German brand even prepared for that moment in which sales of shirts with the ‘7’ on the back would explode, by producing 250,000 tops, and were ready to market and produce more once the operation was completed.

But after Mbappe’s U-turn, the shirts had to be destroyed, with the projections for future sales also written off.
