Let’s use school sports to tap the potentials this country has – Board Chairman, NSA Seth Boyoyo

Technical Advisor to the Vice President and Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, Mr Seth Panwum Boyoyo, saids Ghana is blessed with potentials in the sporting fraternity and as such School Sports should be the bases of exploiting these talents.

In an address read on behalf of the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahmud Bawumia and the Sports Minister Hon Ussif Mustapha at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Technical University Games in Tamale, the Former Chief Executive Officer of Wa All Stars stated the need for Ghana to us school games to developer the various sporting desciplines.

He saids, the purposes of sports and sports development have become a global testimony for the good and progress of the development of countries. Thus, sports has over the years progressed significantly from its fundamental objective of mere recreation to business. All over the world, the contribution of sports to the creation of jobs, increasing wealth, developing potentials and creating satisfaction amongst people has been successfully measured and affectionately promoted.

He indicated however that logistics and resources are very key to the achievement of these goals. He therefore assured the sporting fraternity of how the Minister of Youth and Sports and his ministry are putting together ideas to ensure the growth of our sports.

Mr Seth Panwum Boyoyo reiterated that Ghana is known across the world as one of the countries with a huge sports potential that is yet to be tapped, and that, the successes of our past in football, boxing, horse racing among others indicate clearly that the current performances of Ghana in international tournaments is yet to synchronise with the realities of the talents available in the system.

What this essentially tells us is that we need to invest resources and logistics with appropriate methodology and strategies aimed at discovering young talents and developing these talents to the maximum.

He therefore urged organizers of the Technical University Games to use the theme of this year’s festival “REDISCOVERING SPORTS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE” to rediscover the disciplines at school level.

As a former Sports secretary of the institution, Mr Seth Panwum Boyoyo urged his Alma mater to host a successful GHATUSA games with the Tag “Host and Win”. The festival will close on the 20th of November.
