Manchester United have made a last minute attempt to sign Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to reports.
Dubbed the ‘new Pirlo’, Tonali is highly-rated amongst Europe’s biggest clubs.
Inter Milan reportedly have an agreement in place to sign the 20-year-old, who already has three caps for Italy.
The Serie A giants would take Tonali on loan with an obligation to buy for £31m, potentially rising to £36m with bonuses.
However, Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, has stated that United has made a late ‘phone call’ to urge Brescia to speak with them about their young star.
It might be too little too late for United, with Inter already agreeing a deal with their Italian rivals.
The Red Devils are also struggling to complete a deal for Jadon Sancho as Borussia Dortmund stand firm on their valuation of the England international.
