Sadio Mane has opened up on the behind-the-scenes relationship between him, his teammates and Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking to France Football, the Senegalese said about the manager: “His secret, I think, is to be the team’s dad. Between us, everything clicked straight away. We all love him like a father and we fear him like one too.

“He takes up a lot of space in my life, and not just in football. He’s great as a person. I trust him blindly, like most of the dressing room, I think.”

Earlier, Jurgen Klopp and Alisson defended Mane amid ‘diving’ accusations issued by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

“Sadio is not a diver. Yes, there was a situation in the Aston Villa game where he felt contact and went down. Maybe it was not a penalty, but there was contact. It’s not like he jumped over a leg or something. All the other penalties were penalties because he was there,” Klopp said.

Alisson added: “We think Sadio is a top player. We know him and his capacity and he is a top player and really, really important for our team. He showed this in the last game with an assist and scoring a goal.”
