Real Tamale United started the football season with defeat after going down 1-0 to Bofoakwa Tano at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

After a goalless first half, Bofoakwa Tano took full advantage of a mix-up in defence of the visitors to slot in the only goal of the game.

Both sides had their first chances within the first twenty minutes. Bofoakwa failed to convert a delightful free-kick from distance before Baffour Clinton burst down the other end and forced a save from Mubarick Somed.

RTU organised after the break but couldn’t find the cutting edge. Coach Ibrahim Shaibu Tanko had to make forced substitution after injuries to captain Hanan Giwah, and Albert Appiah.

“We’re disappointed we lost, I think we played better in the second half and deserved to have gone home with something” Ibrahim Shaibu Tanko indicated.

The team will engage Berekum Arsenal in midweek at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

In other results in Zone One, Steadfast were held at home by Kintampo FC while Techiman City forced a draw away to Berekum Arsenal. Nkoranza Warriors pipped Tamale City by a goal to nil, B.A Utd picked the three points in far away Paga against the Crocodiles. In Goaso , Unity and Young Apostles shared the points after a pulsating 1-1 draw.
