Real Tamale United eased a little pressure on Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko as they battered Young Zobzia of Gambaga 3-1 on Sunday to reach the FA Cup round 32.
Pressure has been increasingly be precarious for the club following recent Division One League results to Paga Crocodile and Gbewaa Fc, and a third setback in the space of eight days to a second division side from would have dramatically escalated the situation.
But Fuseini Mustapha ’s two quick goals in the first half was followed by cool finishes from Desmond Opoku as United scored three times for the first time this season.
Matters has hardly improved for the RTU after strings of poor results in the 2019/20 campaign with just seven points from eight division one matches.
Supporters has been mounting pressure on the team for their disastrous start to the campaign and though former Hearts and Medeama Coach, Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko believes his side can still improve and boost their chances of qualifying into the Premier League, he has asked for patience as RTU had a poor preparations ahead of the start of the season.
Young Zobzia had reached this stage by beating fellow division two side Great Amphibians of Yendi on penalties, and, while Coach Tanko made six changes to the team that drew Gbewaa Fc in midweek, RTU’s XI was not light on experience as Mohammed Hard , Bawa Samuel, Hedir Mohammed and Moses Abayesi were among their positions in the side.
RTU is joined in the round of 32 by City rivals, Tamale City, who beat Kintampo Fc 1-0 on Saturday.
