Yaa Agyeiwaa’s late equaliser saved a point for Kumasi Sports Academy as they drew 1-1 at The Aliu Mahama Stadium against Northern Ladies in the first game of the 2019/2020 National Women’s League.

After a frantic opening lacking in clear-cut chances, the game exploded late in the first half with two crucial saves from Kerrie McCarthy in post for KUSA.

Jafaru Rahama’s finally broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute and that goal looked to be condemning the away side to their first defeat. But a mistake by former U- 17 goalkeeper, Issahaku Barichisu allowed the unmarked Yaa Agyeiwaa to equalise.

Northern Ladies coach Sumani Bashirudeen will be bitterly disappointed they could not hang on to defend tye goal for what would have been a hugely satisfying results.

He will, however, be delighted with the fight, spirit and organisation shown by his side, especially as they missed Mukaramah Abdulai and Alhassan Rafia.

Overall, however, this was a huge improvement simply in terms of resilience and character from both sides.
