Real Tamale United players failed to show up at training on Tuesday as directed by the Board in a statement on Monday, over unpaid salaries, signing on fees and bonuses, Sports24online.com can exclusively confirm.

Some management members, including the CEO, the technical team led by new Coach Baba Nuhu Mallam and some supporters were present at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium to welcome the players after the Board issued a statement on Monday assuring fans of the team’s pre-season program. But players refused to turn up for training.

Coaching staff and supporters waited for a long period of time before leaving to their homes since the training did not come on.

RTU players were owed three months salaries and other entitlements. They had not been paid since March when Business man Ibrahim Mahama and MP for Gusheigu, Hon. Alhassan Tampuli philanthropically contributed to settle the players three months salaries. They are currently owed April, May and June.

The club escaped relegation on the final day of the 2021-22 season, when they defeated Hearts of Oak 4-1 in Accra.
