The Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, has redeemed a pledge of 3000ghc he made to RAG prior to his election as Regional Chairman.

The donation which was done at his residence was in fulfillment of his promise to create A Referee Travelling Revolving Fund, to help refereeing in the region and beyond.

Presenting the cheque to the RAG chairman, Northern Region, Alhaji Abu Hassan said referees have gone through challenges in the last couple of years due to financial situations.

“When the  number 12 expose came, referees dominated the headlines. Certain challenges sometimes forces someone to do things they probably wouldn’t have done”, Alhaji Abu Hassan indicated.

“Referees sometimes borrow monies to aid them in travelling to league centres to officiate games, so I thought of creating this Fund so that referees who don’t have money to travel can borrow from the fund and pay back when they are duly settled”, he continued.

He however admonished referees to avoid borrowing this money to perform weddings, naming ceremonies and other ceremonies since the fund was not meant for that.
