Head of Sports Development in the Northern Region, Madam Alhassan Salamatu has urged members of the Handball Association of the Region to be innovative and organize competitions to keep players active in order to promote the sport.
Madam Salamatu disclosed this during the Innuaguration of the Northern Regional Handball Association at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium. She outlined the mandate of the seven members of Association and said her administration is determined to support all affiliate sports federations to develope locally, so as to enable them to excel at the International level.
She went further to say the Region ( Northern) has been credited for producing some of the finest Handball players who have gained employment in most of the Security Services and the National Team.
She expressed gratitude for the efforts members have put in place to ensure the Innuaguration of the Association but acknowledged the confidence she has in them to delever going forward.
As a former Handball player, Madam Alhassan Salamatu encouraged members of the Association to adjust their timeline and engage the National Sports Authority in their activities.
” the Sports Authority is here to support, develop sports and look for for talents so as an Association encourage the youth to venture into playing Handball since it creates job opportunities for them at the vatious Security Services now” She said.
The Sports Authority, Northern Region looks forward to innaugoration other sporting Association to form an umbrella of the Authority.
