It was all joy for the chiefs and people of the Kpandai District as the under 13 boys soccer team of Kpandai beat Gushegu by three unanswered goals to bid Gushegu farewell from the tournament.

Three second half goals from magical skipper Atta Albert of Kpandai district was more than enough to create a wild celebration among the supporters of Kpandai at the opening ceremony held the Kpandai SHS park.

The Kpandai district was left in so anxiety as the first half of the opening ceremony match ended in an all zero draw, but the tactical directions from the Kpandai bench together with an equally tactical display in the second half secured the thee points and three goals for the host district, Kpandai.

Kpandai will play Yendi municipality in the next group A match today at the Kpandai SHS park.

It was a very colorful opening ceremony yesterday as the DCE for Kpandai Hon, Atta Emmanuel Tatablata lauded the organizing team led by Mr. Sandow Apannya Sule for such a massive setup of event in Kpandai.

The DCE however pledged a gigantic package for three most promising players at the end of the U-13 tournament in Kpandai.

Prior to the start of the tournament, Hajia Zelia the P.E tutor and head coach of Northern Ladies FC presented an tremendous package including medals, footballs and jerseys. The items, according Hajia Zelia is to be given to the Best Defender, Best Goalkeeper, Goal King and the Most Promising player of the tournament.

It must be mentioned that basic school sports especially has great improvement under the new leadership of Regional P.E Coordinator, Mr. Sandow Apannya and his district officers.

The GES Under 13 boys’ soccer competition according to the Northern Regional Coordinator Physical Education and Sports Mr. Sandow Apannya has produced great footballers for Ghana and clubs in the world including Abdul-Majeed Waris, Abdul Baba Rahman, Fataw Issahaku and many others.

It would be recalled that the U-13 boys soccer competition committee was met with a rousing welcome into the Kpandai chief palace where Nana Atosah Brisian Okore ii the paramount chief of the Kpandai traditional area lauded the organizers for such a great recognition of the Kpandai district thus hosting such an enviable tournament in Kpandai.

The chief together with his elder offered three bulls to support the tournament.

The ongoing tournament is under the chairmanship of the Paramount chief of Kpandai, Nana Atorsah and the special guest of honour is the honourable DCE for Kpandai, Hon. Atta Emmanuel Kofi Tatablata.
