Accra Hearts of Oak SC suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC in the 2019 President Cup.

Kim Grant handed debut berth to goalkeeper, Richard Attah whiles the absence of Joseph Esso from the match day squad gave a starting spot to Kofi Kordzi.

Robert Addo Sowah teamed up with Mohammed Alhassan for the pre-festive litmus test in Kumasi whiles Benjamin Afutu and Aminu Mohammed teamed up at the heart of the midfield.

Michelle Sarpong and Manaf Umar Gumah were deployed at the flanks in what has been earmarked as the expected team template heading into the new season.

On his part, Maxwell Konado placed hope on youthful players that saw him naming Mudasiru Salifu and Adom Frank in his unexpected line up.

Naby Keita and Sougne Yacouba led the line upfront for the winner takes all showdown at the Baba Yara stadium.

Hearts of Oak SC started brightly and duly roared into the lead thanks to Kofi Korzi before an own goal from Mohammed Alhassan leveled the scores for the Porcupine Warriors.

Naby Keita kept his composure to shoot the host into a well deserved lead after some shambolic display at the back.

A very late red card to Accra Hearts of Oak’s Robert Addo Sowah completely ended any hopes of Phobian resurgence in a game Christopher Bonney will not want to watch or remember for the foreseeable future.
