REVEALED: How Lampard convinced Werner to choose Chelsea

Former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison says Frank Lampard was key to Chelsea landing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Hutchison says regular contact from Lampard has convinced Werner Stamford Bridge is the place for him.

“Apparently he’s done an unbelievable job because I know my sources are telling me Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp both met Timo Werner and his representatives before Frank then went to Germany,” Hutchison said.

“The work that he’s done behind the scenes Frank, I believe they’ve been sending Timo Werner images and patterns of play of Chelsea and the way he would fit into those patterns of play.

“I think they sold the move to him really, really well because, as I said, massive competition with United and Liverpool and the way Timo Werner‘s been saying all along that he prefers the move to Liverpool.

“Well he met with Jurgen Klopp but the job that Frank’s done in convincing him to go to Chelsea at the moment, it’s not done yet, but it is looking like London rather than Merseyside or Manchester.”
