Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper has revealed that the club are likely to lose Andre Ayew in the new year.

Speaking to the media, Cooper admitted that it is “very possible” Ayew leaves during the January transfer window following the Ghanaian’s good run of form.

The 29-year-old has impressed on his return to the Liberty Stadium and boasts nine goal contributions n 19 English Championship appearances this season.

The Welsh club currently occupy 11th place on the log standings, but are a mere three points from the play-off spots as the league season approaches the midway point.

“He is probably not the only player there will be interest in, whether it’s now or for the future,” Cooper said about Ayew as quoted by BBC Sport.

“This league has lots of players who could play in the league above and Andre will be in that category.

“But there is no news on any interest and I hope that continues. I speak to Andre a lot and I know he is happy with what we are doing.”

The Black Stars forward spent last season on-loan at Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce and was expected to leave the Swans once more, but the club’s record signing decided to stay and has been one of the league’s star performers thus far.

In total, Ayew has scored 19 goals in 67 matches for Swansea.
