There were a lot of unknowns surrounding Real Tamale United ahead of the 2020-21 Division One League campaign, with many questioning whether Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s brand of football could bring consistently good results at the highest level.

As it transpired, it was a brilliant season for the Pride of the North , who finished first in Ghana’s second tie flight, providing plenty of entertainment along the way.

Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s team will again play high-tempo football in the new campaign, this time in the Premier League, and it will be fascinating to see whether the club can push higher up the division.

RTU will be desperate to show once again that they belong at this level of football, and the return of supporters to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium will surely only make the team an even tougher proposition.

RTU have a very tough start to the 2021-22 campaign on October 31st , as they welcome Great Olympics to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. The Dadey Boys had a fantastic campaign last season but faces a tough task as they are yet to win in Tamale against the WayyUna Boys.

Their first away match of the season comes one week later against Legon Cities , while they will also welcome WAFA in week three. Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s side will face Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea in back-to-back games, while they will take on Medeama , Asante Kotoko, Elimina Sharks and new entrance Accra Lions.

And former Hearts and Medeama gaffer, Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko certainly believe that they can take maximum points from their their first five games.
