Ronald Frimpong emerged from the bench to score a stunning goal in the second half and secured RTU a DOL Super Cup victory for Real Tamale United against fierce rivals Berekum Arsenal.

Frimpong tapped home from Baba Kushibo’s cross to seal this five-goal thriller on a pulsating early afternoon game at The Madina Astro Turf.

Mohamed Yakubu dinked the Pride of the North ahead early in the game before B. Arsenal replied through a corner kick after Emmanuel Essandor had made two brilliant saves from the penalty spot.

The newly recruited striker nearly made it two when he hit the bar few minutes later, but it was the Arsenal lads who had their noses in front after Ebenezer Aboagye was left unmarked to nod in his second of the afternoon.

However Abdul Fataw Sayibu restored parity for RTU with the best goal so far in the competition when his cross from 35 yards beat Arsenal’s goalkeeper in the second half. But Frimpong stepped off the bench to settle the tie with a cool finish after an assist from Baba Kushibo.

RTU will now shift focus to their second game on Saturday against Samatex, who lost their opening match against Accra Lions.
