Management of Real Tamale United have expressed their disappointment in the GFA player of the Month committee after they snubbed outstanding David Abagna for the player of the month award for November.

The GFA has received a lot of criticism from fans and players alike who were confused that Abagna wasn’t included in the 3-man shortlist for the award.

Dreams FC stalwart Fatawu Issahaku, Issac Oppong of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Maxwell Abbey Quaye of Great Olympics made the shortlist. However after starring for Real Tamale United in the month of November with five goals, one assist and one man of the match award, David was overlooked for the award.

Speaking on Abagna not included in the shortlist, Administrative officer Mr. George Mutawakil was very honest on the incident.

“I know Abagna will be disappointed not to be considered for the award, “he told sports24online.com.
“He has that ambition. This is not normal in our current dispensation because is quite clear for all to see, he deserves to be there and realizes the importance of this for him.

“He had an outstanding month since he joined RTU. Clean sheets, assist, goals, MVP were all hugely involved. He deserved to be the best looking at the criteria used.

His teammates publicly voiced their frustrations that he wasn’t included in the 3-man shortlist. They were particularly shocked how Kotoko’s Issac Oppong could make the cut with just three goals and one MVP but Abagna with five goals, one assist and one MVP couldn’t.

Meanwhile Head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has reassured David Abagna of his quality following his snub and believe he’s still the best in the league so far.

The former Ashgold attacking midfielder is the top scorer in the ongoing Ghana Premier League with 7 goals after getting on the score sheet against Kotoko in midweek in RTU’s 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium.
