Real Tamale United’s hopes of qualifying for the DOL Super Cup semi-finals were ended by defeat against Accra Lions but will continue preparations with a friendly game with Dreams FC on Thursday.

Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko’s side had plenty of hopes against Premier League debutants Accra Lions, but were toothless in attack and ultimately undone by two goals to one.

The defeat means RTU will not reach the semi-finals after finishing third in Group B, one goal shy of second place Samartex, in the inaugural showpiece.

However, the Pride of the North will continue preparations ahead of their return to the Ghana Premier League with a friendly game against Dreams FC in Prampram on Thursday.

Head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko was pleased with his team showing at the competition and indicated they have picked some positives from the Super Cup. “We don’t like losing but enormous credit to the team. All the way through we created problems for our opponents. I thought we were excellent in some point of our games. I couldn’t have enough praise for the players, they have done well but we will continue to work hard and correct some of the mistakes we made during this competition.
