Hours after visiting his constituency and paying a courtesy call on the overlord of Dagban, Yaa Naa Abukari ll, son of former Board member of Real Tamale United, Alhaji Faruk Mahama has pledged to continue the legacy his father left behind during his reign at the club.

Former Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama was a prominent figure during the late 70s until the early 90s but passed away in 2011. The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama was born as a unifier and so many of his traits are now admired by supporters of RTU around the country – his steely resolve, his aggression, his passion just to mention a few – were what made the Pride of the North a great team in those days.

The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s name still remain a powerful presence around the club despite their struggles. That presence has been especially poignant during the past eight years and after gaining promotion back to the Premier League, his son Alhaji Faruk Mahama said he is ready to continue his father’s legacy.

In an interaction with the team during the Thank You Tour of prominent Chiefs in the Region, the MP for Yendi said he’s ready to invest to move the club forward. “One of the important part of me is still connected to RTU and will do my best to continue from where my Father and other Board members left off”

Real Tamale United made a return to the Premier League after eight years in the Division One on the final day of the season and would compete with the big guys next season.
