Spain’s Minister of Sport reportedly backs the idea of rescheduling El Clasico

Maria Jose Rienda, Spain’s Minister of Sport has emerged as the latest champion of playing El Clasico elsewhere but not in Catalunya.

“It seems to us that, with the way things are going, we consider, along with LaLiga and the RFEF, that, for security reasons, it’s not reasonable to play this match as it is scheduled.”

Catalunya is torn by the mass protests after 9 Catalan leaders were imprisoned for featuring prominently in 2017 Catalan independence referendum.

According to the latest reports from Marca, El Clasico will ‘possibly’ be played December 18 at Camp Nou. The final decision will be made by RFEF on Wednesday, October 23.
