Head Coach of the National U-23 Team, Paa Kwasi Fabin has confirmed Tamale Utrecht Football Academy starlet Uzairu Alhassan will make the step up with the Black Meteors after naming a 27 man squad ahead of two friendly games against Japan.

Uzairu 19 years, joins other team mates from the U-20 squad that conquered Africa in Mauritania this year in the Africa U-20 Championship, including Daniel Banieh of Hearts of Oak, Precious Boah of Dreams FC, and Martin Anim Cudjoe of Legon Cities, in being promoted to the U-23 side.

Uzairu who captained the National U-17 side in Niger two year ago, played a key role in the U-20’s triumphant victory in Mauritania.

The 27-man squad will begin camping later this month to prepare for the friendly games against their Japanese counterparts in Tokyo on June 4 and June 8.

Japan will use the game as part of preparations for the Olympic Games Football competition.

Coach Fabin on the other hand sees the game as an opportunity to assess players for the team’s upcoming assignments.
