Both Chris Bascombe and Dominic King report that Liverpool are on the verge of agreeing on a new kit deal with Nike that is set to be the most lucrative in the history of Premier League football.

Liverpool have been in discussions with several kit manufacturers – including Adidas and Puma – since January indicating to the current supplier, New Balance, that the club wants to seek alternatives.

The Reds’ £45 million-a-year deal with New Balance expires in June 2020 and it is reported that Nike will supply the new kits from the start of the next season.

Manchester United currently hold the record for the biggest deal with the kit manufacturer in the Premier League as their contract with Adidas signed in 2014 is reported to be worth £750million. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid have deals that are more lucrative with Nike’s £98m-a-year and Adidas’ £107m-a-year respectively.

And that’s exactly the kind of sums Liverpool are expecting to earn from the new deal with Nike.
