Northern Ladies recorded a second consecutive Women Premier League draw as they were held 0-0 in an entertaining stalemate with Pearlpia Ladies at Aliu Mahama Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Coach Bashirudeen’s side were profligate in front of goal in the opening exchanges as both Salifu Victoria and Jafaru Rahama missed good chances, but they were fortunate to avoid defeat late on as Barichisu Abdul Rahman was denied from point-blank range.

Pearlpia Ladies moved level on ponits at the top of the Northern Zone table in 2nd but have played a game more than leaders Prisons Ladies, who welcome Ashtown Ladies to the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Northern Ladies drew their last Women Premier League match away to Fabulous last week and the result moves them up to 6points in 5th place, above KUSA and Fabulous Ladies.

Fresh from engineering a win over KUSA last week at the TUFA Complex, Coach Osman sought to plot a path for a first Premier League victory against a Northern Ladies side who had won three of their last six league games all in Women top flight football in Ghana.

The hosts’ aggressive approach to regaining the ball high up the pitch contributed in them swinging the balance, but not before Kolan Cynthia stood tall to deny Victoria’s lofted finish from Jafaru Rahama’s pass.

“I felt we deserved a goal, both in and out of possession we delivered very well today. We play against some very good team, and if you can’t find a way to win, you get a point. It’s not a grand statement, but it’s another solid show of us looking to improve.” Northern Ladies coach Bashirudeen Sumani said.

His opposing colleague Osman said, “I was pleased with the game my girls played , the way we controlled the game and the opportunities we generated, I think we deserved more than a point.

Northern Ladies will have the advantage again as they welcome Supreme Ladies next week while Pearlpia has a huge game against defending champions Ampem Darkoa in Techiman.
