The 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season is on course to smash the record for the most goals in a campaign if teams can continue the stunning free-scoring start to the term.

After just 8 games, there have been 23 goals scored at an incredible average of 1.8 goals per match.

Though Matchday one of the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League season recorded a high turnout of 26 goals with all goals in each game, Inter Allies vs Dreams FC was the only game that failed to produce a goal while Aduana vs Hearts game was canceled due to Covid-19 issues.

13 of the goals were scored by home sides with away sides netting 11 times on the first day of the Premier League.

If that extraordinary rate continues, this season would see a team smash the record held by Accra Hearts of Oak in the top flight and eventually leading to breaking the record of more goals in a single season by all 18 clubs.

The Phobians hold the record of the highest-scoring team in a single campaign, with 72 goals in the 2002 league season.

The weekend saw Abusua Dwarfs vs Elimina Sharks produced 4 goals while the highest-scoring game saw WAFA thrash King Faisal 4-3 in a seven goal thriller at Sogakpoke.

Karela FC produced an epic late comeback to snatch a draw at Ashgold while Great Olympics drew 1-1 with Medeama SC.

Favorites Asante Kotoko kicked off the season with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Eleven Wonders while the two late kick-off games involving Inter Allies vs Dreams FC and Liberty Professionals vs Bechem United all ended in stalemates.
